How to Roast Pumpkin Seeds

I hope you saved your seeds from when you carved your pumpkin! They are delicious roasted and topped with various things.

Last year, I read a bunch of methods of and recipes for roasting seeds… and combined a few of them to do mine. It turned out very well. Of course, I’m sure there are plenty of ways that work just as well. Feel free to post your recipe/method in the comments!

Wash your seeds and get off all the goop.

Soak overnight in salt water.

Dry and toss seeds with olive oil.

Sprinkle with toppings. Lawry’s seasoned salt is really good. I did a garlic salt version last year, but it wasn’t my favorite. Cinnamon and sugar is a delicious combination. Try whatever you think sounds good!

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, for about 35 minutes or until they’re toasty and delicious.

The cinnamon sugar ones were my favorite last year. Mmmm…

Can I say how I wish it was fall again?! I've only try baking pumpkin seeds ones about two years ago and I burned them! I never tried them again lol but this recipe sounds delicious and I'm sure I can make them without burning them this time!
  • We just picked up our pumpkin today and I trying to think of things to do with the seeds. Each year, I plan on doing something interesting -- but inevitably, I get preoccupied with something else and the seeds sit unprepared. This year will be different -- now that I found your posting. I'll try cinnamon first... but we have a variety of seasonings... Thanks!
  • We use olive oil and sea salt. I don't think I have ever actually put them in a container because they disappear straight from the roasting pan! None yet this year--I fear the pumpkin crop in our area is going to leave us empty. We'll see.
  • YAY! Joyfulabode for the win! Now to purchase some pumpkins...mmmmm. ^_^
  • My son wants to try these!
About the placemats ... Ack! I was afraid something like that would happen. I seem to go for 'looks nice' over 'functions great' and then sigh, something like that happens. Sorry. Hope it's fixable!
