Site Updates – Archives, Related posts, “More” and CompleteRSS

I spent most of the day updating the website… adding things, trying to tweak stuff.

First, you’ll notice there’s a new link up at the top. Archives! Go ahead and click it and let me know what you think. If you click a month, it expands, and I think that’s pretty awesome.

Second, now when you view posts by themselves (instead of on the whole stinkin’ blog), there will be some Related Posts linked below it. This should help you click around to other things you might be interested in. I’ve seen that, loved it, and used it on other blogs… so I figured mine should have that too.

My older sister told me that she tried to load my /category/recipes page and it nearly killed her computer because of all the photos and how LONG it is… so I’m eventually going to try to make more specific recipe categories so they’re not all lumped together, but in the meantime I’ve “cut” those posts. Don’t worry, they’re still there! But now you’ll just have to click “Read the rest of this entry” in order to finish reading.

It’s okay though, because the RSS feed will still show the entire post. I’ve unsubscribed from several blogs I actually like… because their RSS feeds were truncated. It’s super-annoying. So I installed the wordpress plugin “CompleteRSS” so that won’t happen to you.

I’ve also implemented a contact page, but I’m still testing it out. If you’d like to help me test it, please click here and send me a nice friendly email, then comment back here at this entry to tell me about your experience with the contact form. Thanks so much! If I get a bit of good feedback about it, I can link to it in the menu at the top of the page.

Aaaand… I updated my Shows and Events page. Check it out to see when my next show is.

It’s nearly midnight now… it’s been a LONG day of updating the site. Hopefully some of it was worth it to you, the readers!

Hi! I'm Emily. I'm a Navy wife and stay at home mom of two beautiful children. I cook simple, delicious, grain-free recipes, do crafts, decorate my home on a budget, and keep a happy household. I tandem breastfeed, babywear, cloth diaper, practice elimination communication, homebirth, and co-sleep, but I'm not a hippie.
