Spinning Dog Trick

Zora learned spinning a long time ago, but I’ve always had to move my arm in a big circle as the cue to spin… so for the February training challenge for an online dog training community, I wanted to teach her how to do it with a more subtle cue. With some GOOD treats (turkey shreds) she picked it up pretty quickly. Now I just twirl my finger in one little spot and say Spin.

The jumping at the beginning of her spins is because she wants to do her newest trick, “be a squirrel” (beg). She LOVES being a squirrel and offers it any time she wants some attention or a treat.

In this one she does some cute little sneezes at the beginning. Am I the only one who thinks puppy sneezes are adorable?

That is just awesome. Can you share the link to online dog training? I have a 9-mos old Australian cattle dog that loves to learn new tricks.

Oh – I heard somewhere that dogs “sneeze” sometimes when they’re surprised or excited. So, maybe she’s just “tickled” at being asked to spin!

How CUTE! Dogs crack me up. Lexy, our dog, has me in tears at least once a day more if she’s eaten a pair of my shoes!
