I couldn’t call my blog Domesticity by Trial and Error if there were never any errors, right?

I thought it was a good idea, and the guy seemed to like it well enough but I’d actually put this into the ERROR category… probably won’t be making it again, at least not without some huge modifications.

Tri-color rotini, soybeans, and turkey breast meat (yum to all three of those)…

Then I made a dressing out of fat free sour cream and soy sauce. Usually to me, sour cream and soy sauce = yum. It’s delicious on baked potatoes or as a dip for chips or fries. And I thought it would be good here with the soybeans especially.

Well I think because the sour cream was fat free (which has to use stabilizers to give it sour creamy texture since there’s no fat in it… otherwise it’s essentially buttermilk) there was some sort of not-happy response when I put it over the hot pasta, almost like it melted or collapsed or something.

It didn’t taste BAD but I did find myself trying to find the soybeans so I could just munch on them mostly.

Have you had a recipe ERROR lately?  What was it? Can it be saved for next time or does it just go in the “never again” category?

This does sound very good – I think I’ll try it with regular sour cream in 1/2 the batch and a vinaigrette of some kind on the other half.

P.O.S. – Pot of Stuff – in this case Pot of S%#@. Leftover Ham, Rice, Spaghetti Sauce, Parmesan Cheese, and goodness what other odds and ends of leftovers in the frige. Plunked down like vomit on a plate in front of 6 hungry kids. Remember? I know you do!

Just this past weekend I tried to make carrot cake out of some baby carrots I had put into the freezer, not knowing that baby carrots go mushy if frozen without being blanched first. Anywho, I don’t think it was the carrots necessarily that made the cake bad, but the recipe I used was awful! Much too sweet, couldn’t taste carrots at all, and even worse, the batter was so moist that the durn thing collapsed in the pan when I removed it from the oven. The whole she-bang went into the trash.

And for the people who think this looks/sounds good… I KNOW, right?? I mean, I wouldn’t have made it if I thought it would be gross. Might’ve been better with regular sour cream that wouldn’t “collapse” or maybe even a soy sauce vinaigrette dressing…

Oh goodness, kelsey, I saw that on your blog earlier and thought it looked pretty bad … but didn’t know it was EPIC FAIL. Darn!

It was horrible… the house smelled for days, and I couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth for several brushings…
