In a word, Yum.
And also, another word? Easy.
1 Tbsp each:
- chili powder
- brown sugar
- oregano
And also 1 Tbsp olive oil.
It’s not that attractive in this state… but it smells so amazing, and once you rub it on the chicken…
You can see yourself getting behind the idea of this rub.
And after it gets those gorgeous grill lines? Well then it’s just… dinner.
Heavenly, delicious dinner.

We rubbed this on chicken with the skin still on and it caught on fire in our grill! We didn’t notice it very quickly. Scorched it pure black! Was it the skin or the olive oil?
[...] Sweet and Spicy Grilled Chicken Rub [...]
Hi this rub sounds delicious, but I just have one question, how long do you leave rub on before you start to grill it? Thank you!
Awesome! I was just thinking the other day that I needed to make a sweet and spicy chicken sandwich here pretty soon. Thanks!

oh this looks so good. it’s going on this week’s menu
I’ve read your blog for a while, but have never commented. I just gotta say I love your food blogs! Somehow I always read them around lunchtime! Anyways, just wanted to say hi. Oh, and tasty rub! I’ll have to try it out!
Well, I tested the recipe on myself and my roommate last night before making it for my boyfriend tomorrow, and wow — it was very delicious! Since we live in an apartment, I roasted the chicken in the oven instead of grilling it. I also added sea salt and lemon juice to the rub to make it tangy. Yum!
) I never would have thought to use brown sugar in a rub.
YUM! I came across this blog just in time. I’m definitely going to use the chicken recipe for dinner this Sunday!
