We rubbed this on chicken with the skin still on and it caught on fire in our grill! We didn't notice it very quickly. Scorched it pure black! Was it the skin or the olive oil?

Hi this rub sounds delicious, but I just have one question, how long do you leave rub on before you start to grill it? Thank you!

Well, I tested the recipe on myself and my roommate last night before making it for my boyfriend tomorrow, and wow -- it was very delicious! Since we live in an apartment, I roasted the chicken in the oven instead of grilling it. I also added sea salt and lemon juice to the rub to make it tangy. Yum! :o) I never would have thought to use brown sugar in a rub.
