Home Decor Sneak Peeks – Baby Room and Living Room

Saturday, the husband and I made our first-ever pilgrimage to IKEA. It’s about 3.5 hours away, but closer to a 4 hour drive with a pregnant lady who has to stop constantly to pee. I actually dreamed about going to Ikea last week. In my dream, you had to stand on a conveyor belt to be taken to a little movie-theater room to watch an orientation video about how to shop at Ikea before you went into the store.

It was kind of funny then, when we arrived and stood on an escalator to get to the “showroom” floor where they had TVs in most of the rooms, with “how to shop at Ikea” videos playing. Am I intuitive or what?

Anyway, it was awesome. I could do some serious damage with one of those nearby…

Here’s the back of the jeep on the way home – filled with goodies! Oh um… the spare tire was there before, not an Ikea purchase. haha.

We stayed up till about midnight, assembling things, rolling out our new rug (which we stuck to our carpet with rug-to-carpet tape – great invention!), framing things, and being generally excited about our home decor purchases.

NOT from Ikea – these are from Anthropologie. I ordered 12 but they only sent 11… I called customer service and told them the item number for the missing one, and they said they’d send it out. Instead, they pretended I returned one and refunded my money. Weird. So I need to find one more tealy/aqua knob (do you say knob or drawer pull or something else?) somewhere.

Where do you think these babies are going? Take a guess!

And a peek at our awesome new rug. Yay for ORANGE! I was going to buy one from Crate & Barrel, but this one looked pretty much exactly the same and we wouldn’t have to pay for shipping, so I snatched it up and took it home. It’s only been a day or so, but we both agree it adds a lot to our living room.

I did see the stuffed toys but wasn't really moved to buy any… though we thought about getting one for our dog. Glad to hear they're durable! Maybe I'll get some in the future. I'm sure I'll eventually go to Ikea again! haha. I did get this baby book http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/5013… which is ADORABLE. Each page has a different “action” and lots of different textures and stuff. It will be fun to look at with her and talk w/her about.

I love, love, love Ikea! I don't get there often because the closest one is in Atlanta which is quite a drive from me. I actually go to one in VA more often (when I visit friends)–ironic!

With baby on the way, be sure to check out their stuffed toys. Very cheap & amazingly durable. I buy them for my cats. They have several. One has been hauled from room to room for almost 4 years and it's still holding up just fine. I'm not sure if a child or a cat would be harder on toys, but those things are durable–for sure!

    Happy decorating!

Thanks Mamatha! Yes, they are for the baby's dresser. I thought it would be neat for them all to be different – something she can ponder as she starts noticing details and pulling up to standing, etc… and beautiful when she's older too.

I think those are knobs. I think they're only drawer pulls when they're the hang-y/handle type. :)

And I guess the same as below, for baby's room?
