2 Months Old!

Hubs says “Lord, Have Mercy. Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On.”

This month, all sorts of exciting things have happened. Our girl has grown in length and weight, and is in the 80th percentile for both. Her doctor said she’s, “very proportionate.” She also said “perfect” lots of times. Which I’m sure meant, “perfect – medically.” But my mama ears heard, “perfect – in every way!”

Now she REALLY looks at us. And she recognizes us. If I leave her for a few minutes to go move laundry through or something, when I come back it’s clear she recognizes me, and usually I get a big gummy grin.

She also loves looking at contrasty or colorful pictures in books now, and tracking toys with her eyes when we move them around. She can also grip her rattle and gets a kick out of shaking it, until she drops it and then just looks at me as if to say, “Please may I have it again?”

Anneliese GIGGLES. I love her giggles. They’re quiet, raspy little things, but unmistakable. She laughs almost every time I sing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” to her (and crawl my fingers up her belly). She also gives me big smiles when I sing to her, “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” (Remember that when you’re 16 and want a car!), “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck,” and, “Getting to Know You.”

She coos and babbles a bit too, though she’s not very talkative. Sometimes we’ll have a good conversation that lasts several minutes, but mostly she listens, soaking everything up.

We’ve also introduced a bottle to her in the last week or so. It would sure be convenient if she knew how to drink from one so that I could leave some pumped milk with my husband and go to lunch with a girlfriend, or leave a bottle with a babysitter (GULP – don’t think this will happen any time soon!) so that we can have a date. The first few days she really wasn’t sure what to do with it, or how to suck the milk out. Now she’s a pro already. Thanks to Shari Criso for helping us and encouraging us, and celebrating with us when she “got it!”

So cute! Sebastian is 2 months now and he has pretty much no interest in any toy or rattle except one with a face that he likes to stare at. He is very social though so I’m not too worried. I LOVE your girl’s headband!

Aww she is so cute! What is it about a baby in jeans? I just don’t know but it’s so cute. It just keeps getting better and better believe me!
My 2 yr old loved Itsy Bitsy Spider. And the guaranteed smile-maker and giggle-producer for my second (9 months old): Pat-a-cake. Gets her every time :)

oh yes, she loves the “pat it, and roll it” part… I move her hands for her and she thinks it’s hilarious.
