I asked my facebook buddies if I should write up a recipe, family post, or gDiaper post next. They asked me for a family update, so here it is! (Thanks, awesome facebook friends!)
First, my mother visited. She was here for several days, and we got to do some fun stuff. We went to the farmer’s market… (That’s my husband on the far left in the airplane shirt.)
She got to be the “doting grandmother.”
She didn’t forget her grand-doggie either.
Then my sister Jessica came to visit, and fell totally in love.
Her sad face (booja face, in my family) is just about as good as Anneliese’s! And definitely as cute.
My sister is also a PRO at tummy time. See how she can lift her head up so far? So strong!
And yesterday and today, my father-in-law was here for the briefest visit! But he enjoyed kissing the top of Anneliese’s head. Isn’t that one of the most wonderful things about babies?
I’m so glad that we waited a bit before having family visit. By now, I’m totally comfortable handing Anneliese off to other people… but in the beginning, that mother lioness instinct was very strong, and I would have been very territorial and protective (“MY baby!”).
These circa 2 month old visits have been really nice, and everyone has gotten to play with Anneliese, hold her, kiss her, etc. On Thursday, my dad is visiting, and that will be awesome too, I know. I can’t wait to see him with her.
Don’t worry though – even with all the visitors, the husband and I have had some sweet time with our baby too.
(My husband is also very good at tummy time!)
My sweet husband has also been practicing taking more photos of me and the baby. I realized that basically ALL of the photos of myself from the last year were my pregnancy self-portraits. Outside of that, I didn’t exist. So he’s trying to make sure to capture some of these sweet moments, which I appreciate.
I also got a new camera lens, which I LOVE so far. Check out this depth of field.
This photo was taken with that lens in our very dark house (at night)… plus a black dog… and no flash. AWESOME for low light.

Hi! I'm Emily. I'm a Navy wife and stay at home mom of two beautiful children. I cook simple, delicious, grain-free recipes, do crafts, decorate my home on a budget, and keep a happy household. I tandem breastfeed, babywear, cloth diaper, practice elimination communication, homebirth, and co-sleep, but I'm not a hippie.

I have a Panasonic Lumix – just a point and click.
I LOVE seeing Jessica with Anneliese. The pressure is on. You have to do this, Jessica. It’s so much fun and you’d be so good at it.
That’s all.
I ccan’t wait to see you all at Christmas. Yay
Don’t worry, don’t worry. I plan to have kids. But I still plan to first get married.
Emily — great pictures!! Can you send me the originals from my visit?
Awh, I love all your pictures! And the new lens, AH-MAZ-ING!
I love seeing how happy grandparents are to hold their grand-babies. Makes me smile.
Everyone looks so happy with her
My husband is trying to get into the habit of taking lots of pictures now too, so he doesn’t forget to have the camera out when our baby is here!
Oh, this made me miss Thursday Night Markets in Hanford! Great pictures, thanks for sharing them all!
Great pictures! Mind me asking what type of camera you own? I’m in the market for a new one!
It’s this one: http://amzn.to/bURbz4 and I LOVE it. The kit lens is also very good – it’s what I’ve been using, exclusively, until I just got this new lens. The kit lens is very versatile.
The bath photos were taken with my mom’s camera though – not sure which she uses.
