A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the carousel of company we’d been having (my mom, one of my sisters, and my father-in-law). A few days after that post, my dad came to visit. It was a really nice, low-key visit, and lucky for him (and us) we had figured out how to use the new camera lens a bit better, so I got some awesome shots.
Can you tell it’s been several years since he’s held an infant grandchild? SO EXCITED.
I love when he plays the guitar, too. He wrote a lullaby for Anneliese, and he was playing it for us here:
I love the look on Anneliese’s face in this one. “What? I’m just chilling on the couch with my dad and grampa!”
T got behind the lens a bit too. 3 generations!
Her legs are so strong!
Thanks for visiting, Daddy. It was awesome. We love you!

Hi! I'm Emily. I'm a Navy wife and stay at home mom of two beautiful children. I cook simple, delicious, grain-free recipes, do crafts, decorate my home on a budget, and keep a happy household. I tandem breastfeed, babywear, cloth diaper, practice elimination communication, homebirth, and co-sleep, but I'm not a hippie.

So sweet ^_^ Your dad has the most kind face! My dad has always played guitar too and hubby plays too, your post reminded me of the times we sat around my dads music book and sang together as a family.. sounds cheezy typing it out, but it’s one of those things we did for fun and I cherish the memories. Those were great times ^_^ xox
PS I like the play thing (what are those things called!?) in the first pic. Waay better than plastic! xo
I enjoy following your blog because many of the same things are happening in our lives…I had my first baby, a boy, on August 19th. We went Bradley method too. I like comparing what is happening in your little one’s life, a few weeks ahead of mine! I’m a stay at home mom who loves to cook and create (I used your bunting tutorial for my son’s room!) AND my Dad is visiting…tomorrow! From Ireland! I’m excited
LOVE the last 2 pictures especially! How Precious!!
I love the last picture! Too cute!
It looks like you had such a wonderful visit with your dad! I’m still having a hard time imagining my dad as a grandfather, but I can’t wait for all the sweet moments coming up.
What a great post. Looks like you had a wonderful visit and how special for him to write a song..
So sweet. My husband is just learning the guitar. I’ll suggest lullabies to his grandbabies. Or daughters.
