What Is It?
BabyBond is a nursing cover that covers mom, not baby. Instead of being a giant attention-drawing apron/tent, it’s a simple jersey knit sash. It’s made for use with tops that pull down for nursing and would normally leave the top of your breast exposed.
My Thoughts:
Since I find “real nursing shirts” too complicated to fiddle with, and normally wear tank tops (at least until it gets colder), AND hate the huge LOOK-AT-ME nursing aprons, AND Anneliese hates to have her head covered, I liked the idea of this cover.
I ordered the BabyBond Flex in the size recommended to me by the size chart, but it seems a bit roomier than I’d like. I kind of wish I had ordered the next size down. It’s a very simple thing, essentially two tubes of jersey sewn one inside the other at the shoulder. You just put it over one shoulder like a sash, and separate the layers of fabric to create an opening where your baby can nurse.
It works fine for what it’s supposed to do. It’s small and rolls up into a little storage bag so you can throw it in your purse or diaper bag if you want to. I’m a little confused about why there needs to be fabric under your breast when the baby already covers up that area with her head and body.
I’m personally really uninhibited when it comes to nursing anywhere, in front of anyone. But since my boobs are on the larger side, when I do it with a tank or a shirt that pulls down it leaves me really exposed. I’m fine with that but it’s nice to have an option like this for when you’re around people who might not be so comfortable with that.
I also like that it acts as a cover before latching baby on, and after baby’s done nursing. Just reach in to pull up your shirt again. Then re-clasp your nursing bra, and pull the BabyBond cover off!
This isn’t something I’d probably use in my own home or around family and friends, but in places like restaurants it might be nice to be a tiny bit more covered up. I don’t mind the fact that I’m nursing to be an obvious thing – in fact, I think it’s important for people to nurse in public and SEE people nursing in public. But they don’t necessarily need to see the top of my boob.

I don’t have a NIP story because baby isn’t here yet, but I’d love to have a nice cover for around family since we get together every Sunday. I’m sure I’d love to use it other somewhat public places as well! Looks much better than the “tent” covers

I really want to nurse my child. I will be having him/her soon. Plus, I’m a muslim and really need to cover up so I really appreciate if I have one of Babybond product.
I’m really determine because before I get pregnant, I’m planning to adopt a child from a single parent and BF her. I plan to go to lactation consultant so that I can do something called “induced lactation”. Not long after that, I’m pregnant. so I just have to wait until I deliver and really determine to BF both my adopted and own child anywhere, anytime.

My baby does not like his head covered at all so this would be the perfect cover up for us. I nursed at the coffee shop a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. I was able to cover the top of my breast with my shirt, but it was a little awkward. I would love to have a cover up that is easy to use so that I will feel more comfortable nursing in public and do it more often.

My best NIP story is this:
One time, I was out with Ella, wearing her at the grocery store. She started to fuss, and I could tell she wanted to nurse, but there was no place to sit down at the store except the toilet. No thank you! So, we went across the street to Panera, where I bought a lemonade so I would be a paying customer, and I began to nurse her. There were two women sitting near me speaking Japanese, and they kept turning to look at me, then going back to their conversation, then looking at me some more. I knew they were talking about me and was very uncomfortable, but kept nursing since my baby’s needs come first. When Ella was done eating her and I was burping her, one of the women turned to me and said in English, “Beautiful baby because of mama’s milk.” So, they were talking about me, but they were saying nice things!

How cool! I’m expecting my first baby any day now:) I definitely plan on breastfeeding in public (a public restroom is no place for anyone to eat…including my little guy) and the big tent covers are not my cup o’ tea.

I would love this! I’m not a fan of the apron-type things either, but I hadn’t seen much else yet that didn’t cover you like a tent. I would absolutely use this when the fam comes to visit after the baby is born. Moms are fine to nurse around…dads and other male in-laws might be uncomfortable with the boob situation. Ha
That and I’m sure I’d use it just out in general at restaurants/parks/etc.

I would love this. Ava is a warm girl covers make her drenched in sweat. I have nursed Ava without covers in public but she pops off so much it can get quite embarrassing for me. Also my Father in Law is going to be staying with us over the holidays I’ve never met him before and I don’t want my boob to be hanging out the whole time he’s here.

I have one of the apron covers (never seen one like this). One evening I was nursing my son at a church dinner and one of the men came up and asked what happened to my arm? He thought the nursing apron was one of those splints for broken arms. I’d be excited to try something like this.
I love nursing my baby in public and don’t really mind if people see me. That being said my husband likes me to be a little more discreete about it so this would be perfect. My favorite story so far is my nephew who is 2 1/2 says that my breasts are making booby milky for his cousin

I was nursing my second son in a Perkin’s restaurant one morning while my husband other son and I were out to brunch after church. I was having a particularly hard time get my son and I comfortable in the too small to nurse booth, and he was getting mad at me and likely I was getting frustrated. I started to notice that other people around us were taking notice and that made me even more uncomfortable. When he finally latched on and was happy, I breathed a sigh of relief and over heard a young child ask his Mom what I was doing…she calming told him that I was feeding my baby and making him happy and grow big and strong. He replied to her…did you do that for me….she said yup! He replied….thanks Mom I love being big and strong!

ps….I was wearing at the time one of those apron nursing covers and was sweating my butt off!! This cover looks great for when out at restaurants! Hope that we are able to have a third and this cover would come in handy!!

Unfortunately, I don’t really have a NIP story. Haven’t seen anyone else doing it (I know, right?!), and with DD I just didn’t have the confidence. I usually used a baby blanket when I was with family. Plus, she weaned herself at 5 months so we didn’t have a TON of time. With #2, due in April, I would like to be able be less inhibited about NIP. With a toddler in tow, I’m sure that ample opportunities will present themselves since we’re always out and about, and want to be able to feel confident and not shy. I like that this isn’t a full cover and hadn’t thought about something like that before. Thanks for the review and giveaway!

My husband and I are currently trying to conceive our first child. I think breastfeeding is really important, and I plan to do everything possible to make sure I can do it. I’m typically very modest, so I think I’ll be a little uneasy about nursing in public at first. Eventually I’ll have to get over it, but I think something like this would be helpful.

I wasn’t able to nurse DD longer than a few weeks, I had no supply at all. This time around I’m armed with knowledge, determination, a lactation consultant, a local la Leche League…
The closest I got to NIPing was when my in laws were visiting the new baby and my father in law was too uncomfortable to stay very long. At least I know of an easy way to make him leave in the future lol.
I plan on nursing this baby on demand, even if I’m in public. I’m not shy lol.

I always nurse in public! I first started nursing in the car cause I was shy but then I got the hang of it and always do it where I can find a good seat. I’ve never learned how to use the regular covers, can’t latch the baby easily and I loose his/her head. I had always use a little blanket to cover the top part of myself and since I usually have to lift up my shirt I try to find a seat that has a back against a wall so I wont have a problem with showing too much skin!

I took my baby out to a Mommy Group Meeting at my friend’s house when he was 2 weeks old. I guess I was feeling brave. I am usually a very modest person, but after 5 days in the hospital with my boobs in everyone’s face (getting used to nursing with the help of lactation consultants and fantastic nurses) I sat down to nurse almost immediately upon arriving at the meeting. It was really kinda neat to be in a room with a dozen other women, some of them nursing, and a ton of other children and not a single person batting an eye when I broke out the boob to feed my baby.
I have also nursed a few times out in the middle of a very large public park. Just sitting in the sunshine with my husband and my baby. I use a cover then, because even though I live in a very progressive and family friendly neighborhood, as I mentioned above, I am usually very modest.
I’m always curious about better ways of doing things, and I’d not mind giving this cover a try.

I teach part-time, so I’m always ending up nursing in the teachers’ lounge. Most people, even the guy teachers, are really cool about it and don’t call attention to it. One time, though, an older lady saw that I was holding the baby and came to coo over him, not realizing he was nursing. Of course he was startled and pulled off the breast to stare at her — leaving my nipple pretty much in her face!
And she didn’t skip a beat, just patted his head and went on her way.
People at school are really nice.

I am NIP my fourth girl. She is the first that doesn’t like to have her head covered.
This would be a handy device for an on the go Mom like me! My favorite story is one where I was using the ‘sheet’ cover while nursing and it is open at the top so that I can see down and whatnot. A man walked up and tried to peek down the hole trying to figure out what I was doing. To his embarrassment he back up, red face and all. I just laughed! Sometimes even when we are trying to be discreet people and children are just too curious about what is going on.
A few weeks ago I was with my daughter in our church’s toddler room (where parents take their squirmy little ones to play with toys and watch the service on tv). There was another mom there with her daughter who was adopted from China. My 10mo wanted to nurse, so we just did it right there. The other little girl, who probably had never seen anyone nursing before, was curious and I got to explain that my baby was hungry and I was feeding her.

I don’t often nurse in public. WHen I do though – it’s always a production. Getting out the nursing shawl, so I don’t flash the whole bar/restaurant when I take out my G’s (Whole knew definition to “the girls”) – and then I can’t see under the cover to get the baby latched, and she doesn’t like being under the cover. oy!! Something like this would make a lot more sense…
I usually only NIP when we’re out to dinner as a family. With friends i’ll just say “pardon” and whip ‘em out as needed.

My daughter is 2 months old and the closest I have come to NIP would be in my car. I am not comfortable being so exposed and my baby doesn’t like to be covered. This would be PERFECT and would help me get over my “stage fright” of nursing in public places!
I just started nursing in public last week! My son is 10 weeks old. My Dad was visiting, we were out and about a lot and I thought, I have just got to bite the bullet and get over it! So we nursed sitting in restaurants (though I asked for a more private table, we were SLAP bang in the middle!), standing in stores, and my personal favorite, while walking a 5 and a half mile hike around our local lake! My son was in the Baby Bjorn-type carrier on me, so I lowered him so he was level with my breast to eat, threw a burping cloth over his head and walked, carried and nursed at the same time in 70s heat. Who knows how many calories that burnt!
I hate my nursing apron, but I still use it in front of others. I would love to try something different. I would love to be more confident so THEY are more comfortable with nursing, if I am!
I would love something like this! I always wear two shirts so I can use my top shirt to cover the top of my breast and I pull the undershirt down. It works well, but this would be great for time when I just wear one shirt!
I used to be really scared to NIP. I was always afraid someone would say something negative. When my son was very young I went out for lunch with two other friends with babies. By the time my son was hungry, so were both of there babies. It felt so great to have two NIPing buddies at the same time I was. I knew no one would dare say anything negative to the six of us!
