Review and $100 Giveaway– Olay Total Effects

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Olay.

What Is It?

BlogHer and Olay gave me the chance to try out Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with Cooling Hydration. Kind of a mouthful of a name, but it’s a sleek little bottle that promises to give me refreshed, younger-looking skin.

My Thoughts:

I don’t know about “younger-looking” but my skin does feel refreshed and has a cooling-tingly feel when I (remember to) apply this moisturizer. I looked at the ingredients to figure out if it was my imagination or not (based on marketing claims) and it’s not. This moisturizer has peppermint extract, cucumber extract, menthyl, and camellia extract in it. I approve.

When my little sister and I were kids, there were some camellia bushes in our yard, and we used to think the petals could heal anything. We would pretend to get hurt, then ask the other to rub a camellia petal on our boo-boo. It always worked. So of course I think anything with camellia extract in it has to have something to it.

Since I’ve had my baby, my moisturizing “routine” involves (IF I take a shower/shave/moisturize my legs) smearing my face with whatever lotion (or coconut oil) I have left on my hands after lotioning my legs. But this week, I put the Olay moisturizer in the hall bathroom where it would remind me to use it during the day. When I’d go to the bathroom and wash my hands, I would see it right next to my soap, and apply some to my face.

It’s been a nice pick-me-up in the middle of the day, because it really is “cooling” and refreshing. It especially feels good under my eyes. I can’t speak to whether it makes my skin look younger though, or whether it “minimizes my pores” because, well, I don’t spend a lot of time looking in mirrors – ESPECIALLY now that I’m a mama. (Maybe I should make a once-daily mirror appointment on purpose though, so that I can make sure I don’t look like total poo.)
