My Beauty Non-Routine

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Olay.

Since I’ve had a baby, my time for myself has been a bit hijacked. My “routine” is a bit un-routine, since I have to play each day (each hour, each minute) by ear. Here’s how it generally goes:

Daily, no matter what:

  • Brush my teeth, morning and night.
  • Brush my hair, usually putting it into a ponytail.

Mostly daily, if the baby takes a nap:

  • Take a shower
  • Get dressed in real clothes
  • Quickly wash my face and moisturize.

1-3 times a week, while my husband is with the baby, or if she takes more/longer naps than usual:

  • Take a long shower and shave my legs
  • Blow dry my hair
  • Moisturize my legs and body
  • Tweeze my eyebrows (you don’t want to see what happens if I don’t)
  • Exfoliate my face
  • Put on makeup
  • Trim my nails

Less than once a week, if the planets align:

  • Remove/apply toenail polish
  • Do a GOOD JOB tweezing my eyebrows
  • Take a REALLY long shower, just to relax

Has anything changed your “beauty routine” lately? What are the things you do every day without fail? What do you do only when the planets align?

My beauty routine hasn’t changed at all; daily I brush, floss and ‘rinse’ my teeth and mouth, swab my ears, wash my face with apricot scrub and shower.

  3. Shawnna says:

Nothing has changed lately. Shower and brush teeth. If you want to see me in makeup you have to get married or die first.

Nothing has changed in my beauty routine lately. Every day without fail, I pluck my brows to keep away the strays. When the planets align, I take the time to paint my nails.

Nope, my beauty routine hasn’t changed lately. I wash my face everyday, brush teeth2x, and moisturize like crazy!

When the planets align I wax the tender bits…

  11. Shannon says:

If I’m at home, brushing teeth and showering, the rest depends on the time. If I’m going out I have to have all of my makeup on, painting my nails is something that rarely gets done.

  12. lisa says:

I’m pretty consistent when it comes to washing my face and that really is about it.

  13. Rosey says:

I gave a tweet for my second entry (mail4rosey).

  14. Rosey says:

I take a shower and brush my teeth early in the morning every single day. Most days I also apply make-up and blowdry my hair. Then it’s applicance time with a curling iron and ugh, hairspray.

I rarely moisturize, though I do every once in awhile. I’m not sure why I’m so lax with it because I know it’s important.

Lip stick goes on if pictures are being taken, we’re going out, or people are coming over. Without it I look washed out, especially in the winter.

  15. Deb K says:

I make sure that I shower~brush teeth~wash my face and moisturize!

The cold weather has changed my beauty routine lately. No more baths, only quick showers. I only paint my nails when the planets align ;)

  19. barbara wright says:

I moisturize every day. For everything else, Jupiter pretty much has to align with Mars.

  20. PauleyD says:

I look for a moisturizer that is heavy in the winter. I like to ski and snowboard and if I don’t use a heavy formula my skin gets red and chafed after enjoying winter sports.
In the summer something light with sunblock is ideal.

  28. Justine says:

Nothing has changed my beauty routine lately except too much work maybe! Everyday I moisturize, I will never not do that….and once in a blue moon I get to dye my hair and do my nails! My kids aren’t babies anymore but they’re still demanding!

  29. lisa says:

Just curious. When you say 14 other chances to win, does that mean there is only one prize between the 14 blogs?

  30. Becky says:

every day I wash and moisturize my face and use some lip gloss.

  31. Diane Baum says:

Everyday i moisturize 3x a day my face and neck, floss, tweeze, shower….Once in a life time i add that stuff called make up and i think I probably end up looking like a clown with it on-since I’m not sure if I use the right colors and my make up is so very old!!!!!

  32. Erin Hagood says:

Everyday I moisturize my face, dry my hair, and put on a little mascara. Brushing my teeth is important as well! :)

  33. c y says:

Shaving is low on my list-hate it!
But do full hair washing and style, makeup every day after a sweaty workout.

  34. M.A. says:

Brush my teeth multi-times a day.
    Usually shower once a day.
All other options are hit and miss (more like meteors flashing through the universe than planets aligning).

  35. April Kennedy says:

I don’t have a very consistent beauty routine. I’m about to turn 30 in a few days and I am feeling the need to spruce up my look, and get rid of the bags caused by my three kids.

  36. Lisa G. says:

My beauty routine hasn’t changed recently. I use a acne fighting wash am and pm and and oil free moisturizer after wards. Once a month or less I will use a facial mask.

  39. Janice Crespo says:

Shower and brush teeth – all else is optional – LOL

  40. Geoff K says:

Since I graduated and got a full-time job, I now feel the need to shave every day, along with the usual regime of brushing/flossing, showering, and shampooing/conditioning. One thing I let slip more than I should is trimming my fingernails and, especially, my toenails. And now in the winter, I try to moisturize more by using lotion several days a week. Thanks!

  41. Jennifer gersch says:

i shower and brush teeth without fail

  42. Tracy Robertson says:

I shower and moisturize my face every day without fail. When the planets allign, I actually use a facial mask that seems to help a lot. I’d like to do it once a week, but it usually happens only once every 3 or 4 months.

  43. Betty Curran says:

I brush my hair and teeth without fail but everything else is up for grabs.
