I haven’t been on the computer much, but I always have my phone with me, which is a huge help in making me feel connected to other adults even if I don’t see another soul besides Anneliese all day. Between facebook, twitter, and now Instagram, I really feel like part of a larger community, and have constant support throughout the day (and night, when I am up nursing Anneliese).
In case you haven’t heard of Instagram, it is summarized as Fast, simple, beautiful mobile photo sharing on your iPhone. Basically, you snap a photo with your iPhone, choose one of several filters to apply to it, and share it (I usually tweet mine).
So since I’ve only picked up my real camera a handful of times this week, here’s a peek at what our week has been like, via instagram.
Still missing The Guy, still working on growing those teeth. (Though I think the worst of this round of teething is over now!)
Making thigh-high baby socks so we don’t have to deal with leg warmers that ride up with socks that fall off. Lovely!
Waking up to this precious girl every day, and spending the morning snuggling in bed.
Experimenting with more back carries (this one in my Snuggy Baby ring sling) and using our back-carry time to get more chores done – like raking the back yard.
A sleepy baby who was fighting her naps, and only sleeping about half an hour at a time (for a couple days)… Desperate for playtime.
Hanging more pictures and such… trying to get the house in order, while Anneliese hangs out and practices eating…paper. Still waiting for her papa to come home before we introduce solids.
LOTS of nursing earlier this week – I suspected a growth spurt. It seems to have calmed down a bit though.
A small craft project for my bedroom (I’ll show you once I get it on the walls), and a building relationship between dog and girl.
That growth spurt I suspected? Check out these 6-9 month pajamas. Yeah, the 3-6 month ones don’t fit anymore. Also? Mountains of clean laundry to fold.
Being thankful that the fog seems to have lifted (literally) and that our nook of the country isn’t covered in snow. Dressing baby inappropriately in summer attire, even though it’s in the 50s. (I think it’s okay if it’s warm in the house, right?)
Taking some time to put my feet up and relax. Also, sorting through Anneliese’s smaller clothes and diapers, deciding what to keep (for a future little sibling? – but no, I’m not pregnant) and what to pass on.
As part of our “sleep plan,” spending some quiet time each day playing on the floor bed, to get comfy with it and associate it with happy feelings. Also, keeping up with elimination communication, even if I haven’t made any “catches” lately. Anneliese is comfy on her potty, and it’s a good time to sing songs and recite poems.
Excited about the fact that one of the dresses I made a while ago fits perfectly now. And surprising a friend with a baby shower (this is her daughter with Anneliese – she’s going to be such a good big sister).
Learning to sleep unswaddled – this just started today. Two 45-minute naps unswaddled on her floor bed, and one nap in the ring sling at the baby shower (not sure how long). So far tonight, she’s been sleeping unswaddled, but she’s woken several times and needed help getting back to sleep. I found it’s impossible for her to sleep unswaddled on her back at this point, because her arms just wave around nonstop. But on her tummy, she can sleep once she relaxes and stops trying to push up to see the world. Back rubs and pats help her relax, and she snuggles with her Sleepy Sheep, which is just precious to see.
So that’s the week in instagrams. Hope you enjoyed it!

Hi! I'm Emily. I'm a Navy wife and stay at home mom of two beautiful children. I cook simple, delicious, grain-free recipes, do crafts, decorate my home on a budget, and keep a happy household. I tandem breastfeed, babywear, cloth diaper, practice elimination communication, homebirth, and co-sleep, but I'm not a hippie.

What I wouldn’t give to not have piles of snow still in my yard! Seriously the snow pile is still at least 5 ft high! AHHHHH! At least we are supposed to hit 50 this week, BYE BYE Snow! There are only a few times in the year I wished I lived someplace warmer….the whole month of March is one of them!!! LOL
Hi! @Britmuminnz here – real name Sarah
I have just discovered the joy & fun of Instagram! It’s so great. I enjoy your tweets and love the way you parent your little one
all the best, Sarah
Hi there, Instagram friend! I’m amelie522 on IG, but my name is really Tricia. LOVE your blog. It’s great to find other moms with similar parenting philosophies. I’m feeling like IG has really opened me up to a completely different set of blogs, and I’m adoring all the new mamas I’m meeting through it. So thankful to have found you AND your fabulous blog
oh hi! I’m glad you stopped by.
IG is really fun … I can’t believe I resisted it for so long! And I don’t know why. haha.
I’m happy to have “met” you also.
Is your birthday 5-22? I’m 5-25.
What are you making the thigh-high socks from? I’ve tried making leg warmers from my old knee-highs, but they don’t stay up on my little girl, and I’m so tired of her knit pants. And, like you said, socks don’t stay on!
adult knee socks. Don’t use your old ones – they’re probably stretched out from your adult legs being in them! Use new ones.
My son is teething too! Four teeth coming in at once! Breastfeeding may start getting fun. And we cloth diaper too. We use pocket diapers, and I am about to venture into making my own. It would be great to wash diapers every other day instead of every day!
Hi, I always enjoy your pics and this is a new app to me. I’ll pass the info on to my daughter-in-law, who likes to send photos of my only grandchild.
Also, for the next round of teething, there is a tip that you might try: real vanilla. My mom swears it’s the only thing she ever needs for burns, and it should work on gum pain. I can’t believe I never thought of it when our Lauren was hurting.
I enjoy your blog. I follow on Livejournal.

Yeah. I big puffy pink heart instagram. It’s madness. Ah and I see my friend Liz has come over to read…
Oh and. Anneliese is so sweet I’m going into a diabetic coma.
yet another reason i need an iphone…
Love, love, love this post!!! Your little girl is gorgeous and my, is she growing! If you’d allow me, I’d bite her cheeks.
I love this! There is something so familiar about hearing about your week. What a cutie pie you have.
