We’ve finally gotten around to painting Anneliese’s room, and the color is exactly what I had in mind. Fresher than baby blue, lighter than turquoise, kind of an aqua/Tiffany blue color. I love it. And this guy.

The curtains we currently have in there are turquoise, and I’ve never really loved them (we got them because they’re supposed to block the light), so I think I’m going to make this fabric into curtains for her room. Super cute.

The dresser knobs I so lovingly picked out really stand out now, with the wall color setting them off. This is what I imagined over a year ago when we put the dresser together.

Anneliese’s room is even more cozy than before, making it perfect for spending time reading, nursing, or quietly playing.

We haven’t put everything on the walls yet, and there are a few handmade touches that need completion.

But our girl likes her “new” room just fine.

This corner has a lot of significance, and I’ll explain it in a more complete room tour post later on (when we “finish” the room). But I wanted to share this picture for now. I love the way it turned out.

Loving the color.

And her mirror is in a new place, making her bed a more restful spot (the mirror had been getting distracting for her as the months went on), and making the low shelf a great place to pull up and visit with her reflection.

That’s it for now, but I can’t wait to share more with you soon!

So pretty! And is she still sleeping with you all or do you have a bed in her room? I ask bc we’re planning on a Montessori floor bed for our son at some point but he’s still happy on his co-sleeper bassinet right now… And did you buy your low shelf or build it?

She takes all of her naps in her room, and starts the night in her room. MOST nights she stays in her room the whole night. If she wakes to nurse, my husband brings her to me in bed, and when she’s finished I poke him and he takes her back to bed. (hehe lucky me)

Some nights when she’s feeling particularly “needy” like last night, she does spend some time in our bed. Last night after nursing for a while, she fell asleep in my arms so I just laid her between my husband and I (not “proper cosleeping” i know, but we don’t have bed rails and my husband is pretty aware of her) and she slept there for a few hours before waking to nurse again, at which time my husband put her back in her bedroom till morning.

She started rejecting the cosleeper at about 5-6 months, in favor of sleeping IN our bed with us. Because she was taking up so much room (we have a queen) I guess maybe we tried to get her to transition to her room more.

Also, if she is in bed with us, she tends to nonstop nurse most of the time. Which means she is sort-of awake and so am I, and it’s less restful for us both. So having her in her own bed means a better night for all of us. But we stay flexible.

The low shelf is from IKEA, the EXPEDIT collection.

Love, love, love the color and the room Emily! I’m sure it looks even nicer in person. And I think the matryoshka curtain is super-cute! I was thinking of getting white shades and a printed valance for S’s nursery but you’ve given me ideas now, I may choose a printed fabric curtain now.
