It’s the 10th anniversary of Upromise, and to celebrate, they’re holding a giveaway at www.upromisetodream.com for parents who support their children’s dreams. There will be one grand prize of $10,000 and 10 more winners will get $1,000 each.
You can participate in the contest by submitting your own dream for your child, or by checking out other dreams that have been submitted and clicking “like” on your favorites. Make sure to check out the dream wall official rules.
Here’s the one I wrote for Anneliese.

Have you been using Upromise in the last 10 years? I always heard about it as a teenager but I’m not sure I know anyone who actually enrolled. I’ve been asking on twitter and no one ever responds, but I’d love some input and feedback about it.
I know there is a dedicated Upromise credit card, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to sign up with your existing card.
What has your experience with Upromise been? Have you found it easy to save for your child’s future with it?

Ii will be great to participate in this even and shopping.

If you do a lot of online shopping, go through their portal when purchasing since most of their partner stores only offer online matching.

I’ve been using the upromise extension with firefox when making online purchases to get a head start on paying down my own college loans. (they start coming due next may)

What a good one! I have been reading a lot about how kids these days are set up to fail because all of the “You’re so smart!” praise teaches them not to try the hard stuff. You’re right – She CAN do hard things!
I just want Sebastian to be optimistic. I don’t want him to ever lose that baby happiness. I tend to look for the good and I’m easy to please, and I hope he is the same way. Simple pleasures.
I had a bad customer service experience with the Upromise credit card, and haven’t really used my Upromise account since then. I had all my grocery loyalty cards included, but after a cross-country move, found that the stores in my new area didn’t participate. I think I got about $200-300 a quarter when I was using all the options. So it depends on where you live and how you shop.
We use Upromise. I have a Upromise account for myself (from when I was in school) and one for Ace. You can sign up your existing credit cards and get a certain % when you buy online (if you go through their referral links) or when you go to the grocery store (make sure to enter your rewards card on the site though) Ace has more then 1K in her account and shes only 8 months old!

I’ve used UPromise almost since they started and have about 2k saved up for my older son. You can link your regular credit cards and grocery cards, so that when you shop at certain stores using those cards, you get a small % “cash back” into your UPromise account. If you do a lot of online shopping, go through their portal when purchasing since most of their partner stores only offer online matching.
Don’t expect to fund an entire college tuition with it (like I said; 10yrs = $2,000), but every little bit helps.
