Barefoot and Pregnant in the Kitchen–Week 14

Just the Facts:

Weeks pregnant: 14 weeks, 1 day

Weight: 132

Gain: -3 overall

Size of the baby: 3.4 inches. Like a lemon.

Weight: 1.5 ounces

Other pregnancy related crap:

Emotional crap: If I say “not much” here this week does that make me a heartless person? I have just been kind of … surviving this week.

Physical crap: The hormone headaches have picked up more… probably 4-5 days out of this week have been headachey. And not like “ooh my head is a little throbby” but like “my head is being split open with an axe.”

Also, can you be ravenous for water? I’ve been like … ravenous for water, at night only. I drink it throughout the day like a normal person, but at night, I drink glass after glass after glass. Two nights ago I drank SIX glasses before bed. SIX. That is not six cups. That is 12 cups of water. 12 cups!!!

The fun physical thing this week is I really seem to have “popped”… which means I don’t just look pregnant in the evenings. I look pregnant all day. Which is cool. And fun.

What I want to devour: Still getting back into normal foods… salad is good. Kiwis. Some cheese. Still not feeling the meat much. I made salmon and it was great. Made it again and I didn’t even want to taste it the second time. So still hit or miss but improving. I did make that jalapeno cheddar cornbread and I ate a lot of it. But put the leftovers in the fridge and haven’t touched them. They’ll get thrown out. It seems like with my “bad” cravings, once I get it out of my system, I’m over it. That’s good. I made more lemon potatoes this week.

What makes me want to hurl: bread, meat, too-sweet fruit…

Supplements: Prenatal vitamin, calcium that has a little bit of Vitamin D in it. Vitamin D3, Fish Oil.

Activity/Training: See headaches, above. Skull-splitting headaches.

Boy/Girl? Boy. Joni said she needs to touch me to make her prediction… she apparently has really high accuracy rates so I’ll see if I can get her to feel my uterus at La Leche League this Tuesday.

Birth prep:
None.

Baby prep: None

Tandem nursing / BOOBS:

For some reason my left nipple is hurting a lot when Anneliese latches on. Not the right though. And my breasts are sore. I don’t think it’s anything like thrush or any of that… just feels like hormones. Or it could just be because it’s been a teething/clingy week for Anneliese.

Other stuff:

Maybe later. It’s way past my bedtime.

I love that you’re five days ahead of me AND on your second baby! I feel like I’ve got someone paving the road ahead of me. Our symptoms have been similar (except for the meat aversion).

I enjoyed reading it. I suppose that pregnancy has its unpleasant moments(like headaches, after that nipples hurting) but after all it worth it for sure.

  3. Anneliese is just beautiful, that picture nursing really takes me back. Almost enough to make me want another one.. almost :)

Aww, every time I see one of your precious pics of Anneliese nursing it makes me so sad that DS weaned <>
I hope this little one will make it past a year at least, I do miss it so~
    -ps: super cute bump :)

  5. You look great! I’m so sorry about the headaches! I had the same thing with my last pregnancy. The only thing that worked was a dose of caffeine (cup of coffee) and a nice long walk.

Yay! Getting back into food is wonderful, isn’t it? Even if you can’t handle leftovers just yet, it’s still a major improvement.

I’ve been craving steak myself this week–I discovered I can eat it cold if it’s medium-rare or less (cooked). Sooo tender. :)

Sorry to hear about the nipple soreness. I even weaned my son onto one breast and the other nipple still hurts to be brushed/touched. Argh, hormones!

    Your bump is so cute.
