Just the Facts:
Weeks pregnant: 18 weeks, 3 days (haha getting more and more behind on these! oops)
Weight: 136
Gain: +1 overall
Size of the baby: 5.6 inches.
Weight: 6.7 ounces.
Other pregnancy related crap:
Emotional crap: So happy. I’m so excited about our growing family. I’m anxious to find out if the baby is a girl or a boy (no set appointment yet, but soon!) so that I can start calling it by a name instead of “it” or “fetus” or “inside-baby.”
Physical crap: Dreams have gotten even crazier if that’s possible. Still thirsty at night, still intermittent headaches. The positive physical thing is that I can feel the baby moving now and then (again). Yay! Looking forward to the baby getting bigger and stronger so I can feel it more.
What I want to devour: Fresh things… my favorite meals this week were eggplant with sausage/mushroom tomato sauce on top, whole milk mozzarella, and pepperoni (like pizzas sort of w/eggplant “crust”) SO good.
What makes me want to hurl: Meat I’ve cooked, eggs. When will this end??? I miss meat!
Supplements: Prenatal vitamin, calcium that has a little bit of Vitamin D in it. Vitamin D3, Fish Oil. I got my vitamin D serum test back and my levels were great (75 ng/mL now!) so I’ve cut back to 5k IU/day for maintenance. Very pleased.
Activity/Training: Nothing exciting, a few walks. Not as many as I’d like still.
Boy/Girl? GAHHHHH!!!!! I DON’T KNOWWWWW!!!
Birth prep: A nice visit from my homebirth midwife. She took my history and we talked about my pregnancy/birth with Anneliese, and this pregnancy so far. I tested my urine and she took my blood pressure and felt where my uterus is. Simple, relaxed.
Baby prep: I think really nothing this week.
Tandem nursing / BOOBS: LOTS of nursing, and nursing in the middle of the night too… Anneliese has woken screaming several times the last few nights, and only wants to snuggle and nurse. But this morning there was a new tooth that had popped through, so hopefully she will sleep better tonight. My breasts are very sensitive at night, and the night nursing isn’t super-comfortable. During the day it’s not so bad, and she doesn’t nurse as desperately as she has been at night with teething pain.
She has started to ask to nurse after most meals, and she does this adorable thing where she signs “milk” with both hands, and makes a please-face… which is wide eyes, eyebrows raised, a lovely little grin, and tilting her head to the side a bit. So funny, like someone taught her how to “be cute to get what you want.”
Other stuff: Took this this morning. I’ve been living in my yoga pants since my maternity jeans still fall down a bit. The weather has finally been getting chilly and I’m looking forward to shopping for some cooler-weather clothes and shirts that will actually fit me for many months. You can tell in the pic this shirt is getting a bit “full” in the belly area… I have 3-4 shirts like this I think (cheap non-maternity shirts I bought this summer because I had no clothes), 2 short/flutter sleeve shirts I’ve had for years (not really good for cold weather) and one short sleeved maternity shirt that doesn’t really seem like a maternity shirt to me at all… so I’m not sure how long it’ll fit. I have no clue what types of things to look for or where to shop. Just keeping my eyes peeled… I feel like a lot of stuff at Motherhood is very “Duggar-ish” and not my style. Pea in the Pod is super-expensive. Forever 21 is very limited in the maternity section. So I’ll probably end up trying to find things that will work even though they’re not labeled as maternity. Suggestions are welcome.

I'm a Navy wife and stay at home mom of two beautiful children. I cook simple, delicious, grain-free recipes, do crafts, decorate my home on a budget, and keep a happy household. I tandem breastfeed, babywear, cloth diaper, practice elimination communication, homebirth, and co-sleep, but I'm not a hippie.

Congrats!I’m really happy for welcome to your baby..Looking forward to see the baby picture..Take care always!

I bought most of my maternity clothes from Target, and Old Navy has some good things too. If you sew at all, maternity skirts are very easy to make

Target is a good place to look for maternity clothes.
I LOVE Gap maternity clothes. I am 5’10 and have a long torso and legs. I cried with my first pregnancy when trying on a pair of their maternity pants. I had given up on finding something that fit well and felt good!

A friend of mine bought cute suspenders then wore her husband’s shirts and jeans. She looked adorable.
Do you guys have an Old Navy anywhere around? They a pretty decent, affordable maternity section?? Cute belly!
Can’t wait to hear the boy/girl news. I’m feeling like Miss A is gonna have a sister
I like the maternnity tees that have ruching on the sides. I found some of these at Target, then I made some of my own by buying tees that were two sizes too big off the clearance rack and sewing some elastic into the side seams from just below the bust to a few inches from the bottom.
I survived my pregnancy strictly off the maternity racks at Target. If you check the clearance section, they almost always have at least one style of maternity pants and one style of maternity shirt that is super discounted. I got most of my tops for less than $10 and my pants for less than $15! Good Luck!
P.S. You look adorable!
SO glad she popped a tooth. Always a big accomplishment!!!
I hope those headaches go away for good and you can take long naps without feeling bad after.
Have you looked at the Maternity stuff @ Target? I think it’s super cute.
I hated maternity clothes. The ones available here are the frumpiest. Luckily I managed to love in most of my clothes right up until the 8th month.
Meat and cheese were the only things that calmed my nausea with my first pregnancy, not so with my second.
And I think you are quite amazing pursuing your breast feeding with such commitment. I so wanted to.

Love the updates and so glad everything is going well. Have you tried eBay for maternity stuff?
So happy to hear your news!! Looking forward to seeing your posts and pictures! Congrats!
I was able to complete most of my maternity wardrobe from Salvation Army, with additional pieces from Old Navy. ON tshirts are pretty flimsy, so they’d probably only look decent for 1 pregnancy.
I lived in on-sale maternity clothes from the Gap. Not terribly unique but it held me over until the very end, when I took over my husband’s t-shirt collection.
I found cute stuff, including some Pea in the Pod, and all at reasonable prices at Ross. It’s hit and miss I know, but maybe worth a look if you have one close?
