AmFam Stand Up

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of American Family Insurance for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I wrote about Stand Up For Family about a month ago, and talked about how much I liked the videos and how  I personally don’t LOVE vulgar stand-up acts, and how awesome it is that there are comedians out there who talk about family life and childhood memories … but I’ve got to say something else this time.

In the last month, Anneliese has started talking more. A lot. Almost every day she surprises me with a new word. This morning it was “patient,” because I was peeling some clementines for her and she was reaching for them, so I said, “Mama is getting them ready. Please be patient.” She stopped reaching for them and repeated with a nod, “pay-den.”

Oh. My. Gosh.

Sundenly, when we are listening to Pandora and an “explicit” song (i mean one with bad words here and there, not one about banging all the hos) comes on, I cringe and look at Anneliese to see if she noticed the word. What if she started singing along? GASP!

So it’s really nice that American Family Insurance has released some things that parents can enjoy without having to gasp and look around to see if the kids heard. I’m not saying sit your toddler down in front of it. I’m not all into the “let’s have the baby watch TV!” stuff.. yes that EVEN means “kid shows.” But if I start watching a show while she is napping, and then she wakes up when there’s 10 minutes left, I usually finish watching it with her in the room playing or nursing.

So Thanks again, AmFam for non-cringe-ifying humor.
