So, I haven’t given these things yet… but I’ve been collecting. They’re in my garage now, and some of them are scheduled for pick-ups from friends. For the other things, I am thinking of doing a free yard sale next Saturday (this week I’m busy on Saturday). There’s a lot of good/nice stuff in here, so hopefully it would go quickly!
So far, I’ve really scoured my kitchen…opening every cabinet and really LOOKING at what’s inside, deciding what I actually use and what can go.
I did the same thing with my closet and dresser too, and surprised myself by finding lots to give away. I had already decluttered my clothes recently, but I didn’t think about shoes, accessories, bags, and so forth. Lots of those are ready to go!
There are also some thing that Anneliese and Joey are too big for now, and some other baby stuff we’re finished with.
And as for what I’ve already given:
(some of it was recently, before I posted about the project, but with the challenge in mind already):
- 5 maternity shorts
- 3 maternity dresses
- 6 maternity pants
- 11 maternity shirts
- 2 maternity jackets
- 12 burp cloths (counting as 1 item)
- 28 baby clothes items
- 9 random baby items
- 15 toys
- 1 ring sling
- 11 gDiapers
- 24 gCloth
So that’s 116 so far!
I have a feeling it’ll go quickly at first, but slow down as we get closer to 500, when we’ll have to go through with a fine toothed comb to find more to let go of. OR maybe we’ll be surprised, and we’ll find it’s way easier to give 500 things, and end up at 750, or 1000!
I’m linking up at the challenge post, and you should too!

Hi! I'm Emily. I'm a Navy wife and stay at home mom of two beautiful children. I cook simple, delicious, grain-free recipes, do crafts, decorate my home on a budget, and keep a happy household. I tandem breastfeed, babywear, cloth diaper, practice elimination communication, homebirth, and co-sleep, but I'm not a hippie.

I love this! It’s basically what I’ve been doing for the past couple years. I don’t know how much stuff accumulated in our house the early years of our marriage from hand me down furniture to clothes and movies.
I have basically been getting rid of stuff constantly since the end of my first pregnancy. Now I am fast becoming a minimalist and loving it!
