No one in my family knows I crochet, so we'll see what they say about my hat. It seems a little big, though I did use a G hook and skipped rows 14-15. It is cute, though!!! Suggestions to make a smaller hat?

I am going to use this to match the scarf I am making for my sister! I know the scarf is supposed to go with the "professional" hat but this is so much cuter and still has the shell edging! Me and my sister are very "bohemian" so this will be awesome.

Oh and I LOVE the yoga-mat bag! I lost my yoga-mat in my recent move from PA to WA, but when I get another one I am def making that bag! (I also have to find a yoga group/class out here grr...)

I love this hat! I took a few tries 'cause I kept adding stitches to each row. I figured it out though, and had to eliminate a couple rows to fit my head! Thanks for such a great pattern! Here's my hat (I made a flower instead of a star though!)

Hi,
I love the blue star cloche hat and I saw the cupcake clutch on your flikr page and was wondering if you had thought of putting a cupcake on the hat instead of the star?? If you wouldn't mind could you send me the pattern for this cloche hat with a cupcake instead of the star?! Thanks very much.

hey meghan... the first round looks like this:
Ch 3 (counts as first dc). Work into ring: dc ch 2. 4 ps. Sl st to join.

The first part (the ch 3, then dc and ch 2) is essentially 1 pattern stitch. So there ends up being 5 pattern stitches in the first round.

I hope you try it again and it works out!

Another problem I've encountered: if I try the three stitches in between increases I'm not getting 24 ch sp.

I'm going to have to put this down for the night, it looks like. It will only be harder when I'm tired.

I'm having trouble figuring out if there should be four ps in that first round or five. I know I should be able to do the math but I keep confusing myself.

If it is four ps in that first round--then shouldn't the fifth round be 1ps in next 3 stitches and then the increase?

I really do love this though! I'm so excited to get it done and show it off!

I love this design! It's so easy and very cute. I've done several afghans but this was my first hat. I found the pattern this morning and did it this afternoon! I did it a bit loosely so it's a little big, but still looks great. A bit warm to wear for a while yet, though. It's a perfect project for a left over half skein of yarn of any color really. Mine's pink. ^_^

What do you think? Star on the right or the left?
