We’ve been eating really well

posted in Food |

Man food, too… which means the meals usually have meat in them. I’m not used to that, but it’s pretty tasty.

Pork ribs (a Paula Deen recipe) and baked potatoes.

Italian sausage and potato salad.

Homemade tortilla chips again, and margaritas. So yummy. (Not photographed: Cheese quesadillas)

Grilled Caribbean jerk chicken (It’s really delicious on the inside. Don’t judge a book by its cover, y’all.) along with rice+veggies and a baked potato.

Burgers with ranch dressing and cucumbers along with grilled corn on the cob (yum!)

That burger and grilled corn look DELISH!!!!

Really, the cukes and ranch - that’d be fabulous with some swiss cheese on there!!!

I wish so much that my husband wasn’t picky so I could steal all of your recipes.

Thanks, Stella. I bet it would be good with swiss too… try it!

Amy, how picky IS he? I mean… what sorts of things doesn’t/does he eat?

    Yayanana, mmmmm indeed!

Ok Amy, how can any man complain about that food selection? Chicken, ribs, hamburgers, sausage…that’s the good stuff!!

To clarify as to my Hub’s level of pickiness:
veggies are absolutely not okay unless it is corn on the cob. Fruits are not okay unless they are strawberries.
potatoes are only acceptable if in french fry form, very thoroughly mashed, or peeled and boiled then fried with garlic.
Steak is welcome, but with no messy sauces.
Chicken is the preferred staple of his diet, again with no messy sauces, though he is more flexible with chicken.
Ham and pork are okay, only on rare occasion.
    He loves mozzarella sticks.
Hamburgers may only be served plain. He has recently come around to allowing them to be put on a bun with bacon, but no condiments or cheese.
Condiments are actually a huge no, but salt and pepper are acceptable. For the longest time, I wasn’t allowed to have mayonnaise in the house since I threatened to squirt it in his mouth while he slept.
He likes pasta, but only serves with butter and parmesan cheese.
The only breakfast foods he likes are bacon and cinnamon rolls. He has tried and enjoyed my scrambled eggs, but feels its too risky to attempt again.

He does like seafood, which is strange since you wouldn’t expect him to, but anything else not on this list is not acceptable food.

He does, however, do most of the cooking since he feels bad having me adapt to his pickiness, and he will make me a meal not on his palate if requested, but it’s still a bit trying to deal with a 32 year old man with such specific tastes. I think i just got far too in depth, but maybe you can get some amusement at our expense, I sure do. :)

Amy, I would think we’re married to the same guy, if mine wasn’t a vegetarian on top of all the other pickiness.
