Pantry shuffle… or Reorganizing the FoodStuffs

posted in Food, Cleaning, Organization |

My pantry was starting to bug me more and more each day. Things were in front of things I needed, the open boxes of crackers were mixed with unopened boxes, bags and boxes of pasta were everywhere…

So do you want to know what I did?

I took everything out of the pantry, cleaned the shelves and swept the floor, and then put everything back in. Except for some foods I decided were too non-nutritious for us to actually eat, which we gave to my brother-in-law, who can handle it because he does triathlons and bikes everywhere.

I re-designated shelves and reorganized, but I didn’t actually buy any new organizing gadgets/boxes/shelves/baskets/widgets. It’s much better now, and I know exactly HOW MANY olives I have (olive-busting recipe to follow).

Sorry it’s blurry, but you can still tell how much better it is.

Nicely done! I’m very jealous. I have to take things out, move them around to find anything in my pantry.

I love doing that to my cupboards! I came home last night from work and found my boyfriend doing that, coincidentally enough. Might be the spring cleaning thing going around. ;) I was almost jealous that he took that “chore” off my shoulders, but since he’s the main cook in the house, it makes sense for him to organize his supplies in a way that makes sense to him. Now if only he weren’t so tall… lots more stuff went on shelves too high up for my short self to get to without crawling on top of the counter, HA.

I’ve been meaning to do this for a few weeks now. I’m in the mood for a proper spring clean, it’s just finding the time and energy to do it. Your pics have encouraged me!

    P.s. I’m a Campbells Soup girl too. 4 for £1, I can’t say no…

Mmmmmmmm Cheez-its! Your pantry looks great, though in all honesty I didn’t think it looked too bad in the, “before,” picture.

at the bottom of there pantry and it makes things nice. It holds chips, and other fun stuff, like Tupperware and such. You might want to check it out. It helps to organize the space a little better.

Your pantry looks great. It really does help out with the grocery shopping. If I keep my organized I spend less at the store.

I’m jealous, I would love to have a pantry. All our food is shoved into the small amount of cupboards we have.

scott, the cheez-its are still there! They’re on the right side though, so you can’t see them.

Kathi, we don’t have any ketchup in there. I think what you’re seeing is barbecue sauces and marinades. Which I don’t know if I’ll buy again because they all seem to be loaded with high fructose corn syrup. Gotta find a way around that. ugh.
