I really want your input!

posted in Web/Blog |

What sorts of things would you like to see on Joyful Abode?

  • More recipes? Any particular categories you feel are lacking? (desserts, side items, chicken dishes, casseroles)
  • Step by step recipe-tutorials?
  • Articles (informative, researched) about certain ingredients or cooking techniques?
  • Craft technique or project tutorials? Any specific technique/craft?
  • Photos of crafts I’ve been working on?
  • Cleaning / Organizing tips? Decor?
  • More about my dog?
  • More about the behind-the-scenes aspects of my business?
  • What it’s like to be a Navy wife?
  • Preschool / homeschooling information and lesson ideas?
  • Anything?

The last time I asked for input (in that case, about what to put in a possible Q&A section), I hardly got any response at all… the main reason was probably that I had broken my RSS feed just a few days before, and hadn’t realized it was broken yet!

I’d love to hear (read) your thoughts! If you haven’t commented before, now would be a GREAT time to start. :)

Thanks so much, in advance, for your input… I really appreciate the little community that is burgeoning around my blog.

I love all of your recipes and how easy it is to follow them (and the step by step photos!) as well as the discussion about your puppy!

PS–I should probably confess, I love anyone’s blog when it contains photos. Yours are fabulous. Thanks for your time and effort!

The only thing I wouldn’t be interested in is more preschool/homeschool information, but that’s because I don’t have kids around, so it doesn’t really apply to me. I love reading your site!

Same as almost everyone above, I love your step by step photo recipes. I just happened to stumble here on your Red Lobster biscuit recipe, and added you to my RSS right away, it was great! Thanks!

I LOVE the step-by-step recipes with photos so much! I’m not saying your site is lacking anything (because it isn’t), but I am trying to eat healthier and would love to see just about any recipes that use vegetables as the star, though not necessarily vegetarian recipes.

I am also hoping to start visiting craft fairs with some of the jewelry my Mister and I are producing. I thoroughly enjoyed your articles about your own shows, as well as the lists of things you’d recommend taking with you to the show.

Also, this is my first post to your site, and I want to compliment you on a wonderful and entertaining site. Great work!!

I’m just a lurker here at your blog but I enjoy all your posts whatever the content. I’m a veggie tho so ignore the meat ones. ;-) However I am most partial to posts about organizing/cleaning, crafts, your dog (love dogs), and homeschooling is good too as I homeschool a 9 year old. Keep up the great work. I love your blog.

I would like to hear more about your behind-the-scenes craft business. Like how you find out about craft fairs? Also all the nuts and bolts of your business. All the non-fun stuff such as money. :)

I am toying around with the idea of crafting a business. I think I’m too late this year to start craft fairs…maybe in the Spring. Etsy has been on my mind too.

Whatever advice you have I’ll gladly take it! :)

    Take Care,
    Sara

Wow! Thanks to everyone who responded to this post. :) I really appreciate it.
I’m taking notes and will try to post more of what you all want.

Also, especially thanks to the lurkers who came out of the woodwork. It’s good to know you’re there!

My vote is for crafty stuff - tutorials, pics of your projects, etc. I’m also interested in home decor. I enjoy your cooking tutorials, but I’m not the chef in the family so a lot of times I just quickly scan them. As someone commented earlier, blogs with lots of photos are the best so yours gets an A+!

I vote for all of the “crafty stuff” as well, though I would be sad if everything else you post about disappeared completely.

I agree with all of the above! I have your blog as my homepage, and visit nearly everyday. Definitely would like to see more crafts, some behind the scenes stuff about craft fairs and other business endeavors, such as how things are going with your stationery and aprons. I have done a few craft fairs and wasn’t very successful with that. I am in the process of setting up a small home daycare, and would love to hear what you do to make things easier, or crafts and activities you do with the kids.

The recipe tutorials are the best, I actually have some 2 hour focaccia in the oven as we speak, on my new pampered chef pan (not the stoneware one, just the regular cookie pan with sides). I did want to purchase that one, but I thought, “how often am I going to make bar cookies?” not realizing I could make delicious focaccia!

I am big into making art for home decor, and just for the sake of art itself! Any projects you could post about pertaining to that would be cool. I like how the wall art in your living room complements the area rug, very nice, and that terra cotta looks great in your living room, what a difference!

I love to crochet, perhaps that section could use a little updating? Maybe a Christmas/holiday ornament, cozy afghan…etc., although with all that you have going on, I’m sure you hardly have the time for an afghan!

With the holidays coming up, some holiday recipes and crafts, or just seasonal stuff in general would be cool…table setting ideas, entertaining ideas, etc.

The time and effort you have put into your blog are evident, Keep up the good work!

    Christine

I would like to see more recipes for things one wouldn’t usually think to make, such as your homemade granola bar recipe and your soup recipes.

I also would enjoy seeing more crafty gift type items and sewing tutorials.

I just found your website a couple weeks ago and I have to say that I am a big fan. I was doing a search on granola bars and your site popped up. (The recipe is great by the way). You are so creative and simple, I love it. Thanks for doing what you do. Happy Thanksgiving.

Everything you are doing here is just lovely. Please keep us updated on “all things Zora”. You are so genuine and it is a delight to visit here. I really, really like the recipes and the way you present them. I would love to know if you have any special appetizers you could share. I can actually say that the name of your blog fits what I find here!
