Day 6 of 30 Day Clutter-Free Countdown - Quote about Decluttering

Decluttering Tip of the Day

Wait to buy.

During this challenge, try to only buy essentials like groceries, gas, and anything you absolutely need right away (if you don’t have something else that could work temporarily).

As you think of things you “need” or want to buy throughout the month, write them on the Wait to Buy List in your workbook, and just put off the purchase until after this month.

Chances are, by then, you’ll have crossed a few things off the list, just from delaying the decision and mulling over it a bit more.

Hooray for money saved and clutter prevented!

  1. Sharyl says:

I am so fired up…the husband and I are at 359 total items for this first week. YEAH!!! We are over the moon thrilled with the stuff we are getting rid of! Thank you for the motivation.

  2. Vera Hall says:

I played catch-up yesterday, but it wasn’t hard. I saved and deleted 60 photos from my cell phone. Seriously, I almost had all my memory ate up with useless photos. :))

  3. Helen says:

Thanks, Emily, for the support to declutter! I started this late, because we were away for 2 weeks, but I am determined to see it through, just a little later than you. I pulled together a massive amount of stuff from all over our house, including from boxes that had remained packed up in the storage rooms in our last 3 homes, and from our cottage, and had a big yard sale early in July. We sold quite a bit, but still have so much we decided to have another sale at the end of the summer.(I’m trying to earn enough to fly out to go see my elderly parents.) So I am continuing to search for stuff to unload. because of the challenge, I am digging deeper into all the areas I had already combed through, as well as the ones I missed. amazing (and appalling) how much we have accumulated!?! Lovely to see space being freed up!
